History:

Dr. Gerry Moore of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden tells how his great uncle tried to establish a resort motel on what came to be known as Moore's Beach. But the road out to the beach was hard to maintain and the state told Mr. Moore that the resort would have to pay for the maintenance of the road. This proved too much for the resort and so it closed. Now there are only the remains of some of the stilt supports on which the houses were built.
