Rosedale Road Woods
Rosedale Road, Princeton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey
14 acres

Directions:

On the north side of Rosedale Road, east of  the Johnson School, and across the street from the old Robert Woods Johnson estate (Greenway Meadows Park?).

History:

The Friends of Princeton Open Spaces and the Delaware & Raritan Greenway cooperated on the preservation of the Rosedale Road.

There was a desire to complete the block of preserved open space on either side of Rosedale Road, a "gateway" to Princeton, and enable the school to enlarge the area used for nature trails and environmental education.

Trails:

The Rosedale Road Woods connects the new 55-acre Greenway Meadows Park with existing township land along Stony Brook, the Johnson Park School property, the former trolley line that is now a bike path that extends to Elm Road, and up The Great Road to Coventry Farm and Mountain Lakes Park. The Friends also originated a proposal for a pedestrian suspension bridge linking other township lands on either side of the Stony Brook, for which the township recently received a $500,000 grant.

10/12/04.  After visiting Greenway Meadows Park, from the east entrance I crossed the street and walked west along the sidewalk.  I noticed all the Delaware & Raritan Greenway signs and figured out that this must be Rosedale Road Woods.  There were no signs indicating the name of the place.  I did not find any trails, but it was a superficial walk, as I wanted to push on to Carson Road Woods.
