Belleville Park
Belleville, Essex County, NJ

Located northeast of the north end of Bound Brook Park in Newark. 


Directions:

Take the New Jersey Turnpike to exit 15 to Route 280 West. Take Route 280 West to exit 14 (Clifton Avenue). Make a right turn at the light onto Clifton Avenue. Take Clifton Avenue to Bloomfield Avenue. Make a right turn onto Bloomfield Avenue and go one block to Mt. Prospect Avenue. Make a left turn onto Mt. Prospect Avenue and follow all the way to Mill Street. Make a left turn onto Mill Street and follow all the way to Belleville Park. The park will be on your right.


Geology:

The Second River heads east out of Watsessing Park heading northeast and then east passing the north end of Bound Brook Park in Newark, Hendricks Field and Belleville Park.


Trails:

A possible 8 mile walk is from Pennsylvania Station, Newark to Brookdale Park, Bloomfield/Montclair, the proposed Liberty Water Gap Trail with a section of the Lenape Trail from downtown Newark, past the Ballantine House and Newark Museum and through Branch Brook Park into Belleville Park. Then some street walking to Yanticaw Park in Nutley and finally Brookdale Park. (Interstate Hiking Club; Mike Selender)

The proposed 155 mile Liberty-Water Gap Trail is mostly made of four trails: Patriots' Path in Morris County, the Lenape Trail in Essex County, the Sussex Branch Trail in Sussex County, and the Paulinskill Valley Trail in Warren County.
