Directions:

Garden State Parkway to Exit 117. Follow Hwy. 36 to Scenic Drive (13 miles). Follow signs to Park.
Hwy. 36 to Navesink Ave./Scenic Drive. Southbound, use jughandle; northbound, turn right. Follow signs to Park.

A little different set of directions:

Head east on Route 36; soon after Stewart’s Rootbeer fast food place, take the u-turn for Linden Avenue and at the light turn left onto Route 36 heading west; two signs (Mt. Mitchell Scenic Outlook and Scenic Road) point to Ocean Boulevard on the right (so turn right). In a short drive you will come to Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook on the right.

Trails:

April 10, 2004. The day we wanted to go to Mt. Mitchill, it was closed. But we did get to see the beautiful view from Ocean Boulevard by parking at the Hofbrauhaus (German - Continental - Seafood restaurant). Across the street is a viewing area from the sidewalk.

The view is great. From left to right, one sees: Staten Island and the Verranzano bridge, along with Brooklyn and Queens and much of the rest of Long Island. There is a white border between the blue of the water and the gray of the land indicating the beaches of the area. One can also see the Empire State Building soaring over the Long Island boros of New York City.
