Duck Pond Run and Open Space Preserve
Meadow Road, West Windsor Township, Mercer County, NJ
377 acres

Directions:

Geology:

Duck Pond Run flows west past North Post Road, swings northwest and ends at the D&R Canal.

History:

West Windsor acquired the 202-acre Maneely parcel in a ceremony on August 21, 2001.

This is the first open space purchased by a municipality in New Jersey partially financed by a $2.9-million low-interest loan from New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing, a state environmental trust dedicated to preserving New Jersey's water supply. The $4.3-million land deal also included funding from the West Windsor Township Open Space Fund, the Mercer County Open Space Fund and the New Jersey Department of Environmental protection Green Acres Fund.

The parcel is adjacent to Meadow Road and now part of the Duck Pond Run and Open Space Preserve, which includes another 175 acres.

Trail:

The Duck Pond Run Greenway and Open Space Preserve will be an extensive greenway when linked to existing municipal greenbelt lands east of Penn Lyle Road.

10/25/04.  Could not find this preserve.  But I did find an area opposite the Estates at Princeton Junction called Duck Pond Park on which the construction people are busily working.  The facilities will include bike paths, playground, picnic areas, and illuminated athletic fields.  Dr. Patrick L.
