Geology:

Weldon Brook runs into Saffins Pond and from there into Lake Shawnee near the northeast section of Lake Hopatcong.

History:

Weldon is from Well Done Forge.

In 1997 Sparta Township Mayor Mike McKenna and a crowd of well-wishers celebrated Green Acres' purchase of two Sparta Township tracts: the 1,742-acre Sparta Mountain WMA, containing headwaters of the Rockaway River, and nearby 828-acre Weldon Brook WMA, headwaters for the Musconetcong. The organizations that helped in the effort included the Sparta Mountains, Highlands Coalition, NJ Audubon Society, Victoria Foundation and Trust for Public Land.
