Lincoln Park, Morris County, NJ

Directions:

History:

1820 -- land here being farmed by Albert Terhune.

1845 -- after having purchased the Terhune farm, the canal company sold it to David Benjamin. Benjamin used the 56-foot fall of water at incline plane 10 East, to run a sawmill.

1855 -- Benjamin sold the mill to Thomas Sindle and George Francisco (d. 1901).

Trail:

The walk starts at the corner of Beaver Brook Road and Windsor Drive (the entrance to the Coventry Run Town Houses). Walk along the stretch of canal here.

At the end of the walk you can see the remains of Francisco's sawmill-gristmill and the lower half of Inclined Plane 10 East. The orchard here is private property.
