Directions:

From I-78: take the exit for County Route 523 North; at the light, turn right. Follow Route 523 straight through Oldwick, where it becomes Route 517. Drive to mileage marker 5 and turn right on to Route 512 (Fairmont Road East). Drive one mile to the power cut for the power lines and park on the right hand side of the road.  Walk down the road a bit passing the No Trespassing signs and at the guard rail turn diagonally right onto a somewhat overgrown wide trail.

Habitats:

forested wetlands, springs, headwaters of Hollow Brook flowing through it.

Trails:

There are no formally maintained trails. The remains of an old stone bridge cross the brook.

5/29/04.  Rosemary and I followed the somewhat over grown road path.  We passed over a bridge (with an open hole in it, so be careful of where you step).  The path ended shortly and we then bushwhacked our way down and over to a stream and then uphill (from where one can overlook the skunk cabbage swampy area below).  Up the hill one comes to a field.  The dominant wild flower was the white beardtongue (in bloom).
