History:

Landowner Allison Hosford said it was always her father's wish to see the land preserved. It will be a valuable wildlife migration corridor.  Another owner was Roger Knight.

Also preserved was the 68-acre Faustini property.

New Jersey Conservation Foundation (NJCF), along with partners Allison Hosford and Roger Knight, the Faustini family, the State of New Jersey Green Acres Program, the Victoria Foundation and Passaic County, has permanently preserved two tracts of land totaling 164 acres in the West Milford Highlands.

NJCF protected the 92-acre Hosford tract, part of its Arcadia Lake project, helping to link Norvin Green State Forest and Newark's Pequannock watershed lands. The $345,000 for a 40-acre easement and 52 acres in-fee was from Green Acres and the Victoria Foundation.


Habitats:

wetlands, wildlife habitat and two ponds, which are part of the headwaters of the Passaic River.


Facilities:

passive recreation, including a connection to foot trails in Norvin Green State Forest and the Highlands National Millennium Trail.
