Development of the property would have fragmented the contiguous, Passaic County-owned Apshawa Tract forest, degraded the water quality in High Crest Lake and limited passive recreation opportunities for nearby communities.
William Faustini was the owner of the property.
Also purchased was the Hosford-Knight property.
New Jersey Conservation Foundation (NJCF), along with partners Allison Hosford and Roger Knight, the Faustini family, the State of New Jersey Green Acres Program, the Victoria Foundation and Passaic County, has permanently preserved two tracts of land totaling 164 acres in the West Milford Highlands.
