Near Ward Pound Ridge Reservation and bounded by Salem Road, Stone Hill Road and Old Stone Hill Road. 

6/02/04.  I (Patrick L. Cooney) drove around and around the area and could not find any preserve.

History:

Donated to the Westchester Land Trust and the Pound Ridge Land Conservancy by actress Zoe Caldwell (winner of 4 Tony Awards) and her sons, Charlie and Sam Whitehead.

The land was donated in honor of Miss Caldwell’s husband, Robert Whitehead, long-time producer of Broadway plays. He staged many of the most important plays of the 20th century, including works by such luminaries as Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O'Neill, and Thornton Wilder. He was the recipient of a special Tony Award for his contributions to the theater.

1934 – Zoe was born in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia. She made her professional début at Stratford-upon-Avon and then performed in London.

1961 – she emigrated to Canada.

1966 – Broadway play, Tennessee Williams' Slapstick Tragedy, for which she won her first Tony Award.

1968 – Broadway play The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Second Tony Award. She married Robert Whitehead.

1982 – Broadway play Medea. Her third Tony Award.

1985 – film The Purple Rose of Cairo.

1995 – Broadway play Master Class. Her fourth Tony Award.

1996 – Zoë Caldwell won a Tony for her performance as Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Masterclass.

2001 – her autobiography I Will Be Cleopatra: An Actress’s Journey.

2002 – film Lilo & Stitch (2002).

2002 (June) – Robert Whitehead dies at the age of 86.

2004 – film Birth.

Trails:

The Whitehead property is part of the 22,000-acre biotic corridor that runs through Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem. There are no hiking trails so it can remain a wildlife habitat.
