New Canaan Audubon Society Bird Sanctuary  --  Wahackme Road
Wahackme Road, New Canaan, Fairfield County, Connecticut

Directions:

US 287 east to get onto Merritt Parkway north; get off at exit 36; turn right onto Hoyt/Weed Street heading north; head into New Canaan Station to a left turn onto  Wahackme Road.  Drive about 1.0 mile. The Park is located on the right just past Wahackme Lane.  We parked across almost across from house #242.

Trails:

10/25/2005.  On a cool, clear morning, Ceferino Santana, dog Sonar and I parked almost directly across from house #242.  There is no signage here.  There are no trails here.  Most of the land is swamp.  There is a little upland on the east and west sides, but not much.  We walked on the west side of the Sanctuary. It was not too hard to bushwhack through the area.  There are houses above the swamp all along the way.  As we approached the north side of the bird sanctuary private property stopped us from going any farther.  Turned back to return to the car.  Dr. Patrick L. Cooney.
