Green mileage marker 30 52 on Route 9G just north of Route 40A (St. Andrew Road).


History:

Until FDR's death, was used as recreation area by Roosevelts. Then became Eleanor Roosevelt's home.


Facilities:

Guided tour, video, self-guided tour of gardens available. Nov.-April, weekends; May 1-Oct. 31, daily 9 a.m.-5 p.m. $5, free under 17.


Trails:

The 8.5 mile long Hyde Park Trail links the three National Historic Sites  -- Vanderbilt Mansion, Franklin D. Roosevelt's home (Springwood), and the home of Eleanor Roosevelt (Val-Kill). The trail is marked by white and green markers with a tulip-tree leaf emblem.
