FRANK J. & LILLIAN G. SCHWARTZ NATURE PRESERVE
Off Monsey Heights Road, Monsey, Rockland County, NY
10 acres

Directions:

Drive east on Route 59;  turn right on New County Road; turn left onto Monsey Heights Road to park entrance approximately 1200 feet on the right.

The park is southwest of Monsey Glen across from the New York State Thruway.

5/13/2003.  For the life of me I could not find the preserve even though I went back and forth on Monsey Heights Road.  There was no sign, no clear parking area, and no clear preserve looking area.

History:

1981  --  the Schwartz family gave the land as a gift in memory of their parents Lillian G. and Frank J. Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz was a physician in Spring Valley for fifty years and served on the Village Board. Mrs. Schwartz was a member of the Spring Valley Auxiliary to Good Samaritan Hospital, the PTA and the Business and Professional Women's Association and started several philanthropic organizations.

Habitats:

Orange and Rockland high tension line powercut; small wetlands in the middle of the park.
