Schwartz Preserve
Pound Ridge, Westchester County, New York
The Schwartz Preserve is not open to the public because of its fragile ecosystem.
Location:
At the southeast intersection of Scofield Road and Cross Pond Road.
Saw Mill River Parkway to its end at the conjunction with US 684; at the same junction get off at Route 35; at the stop sign, turn right; pass by Route 121 (for access to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation); just after passing Bouton Road/Mobil Gas Station on the left and JT Farm on the right, turn right onto Route 124/Spring Street (it may not be labeled at the junction of Route 35 and Route 124); turn left onto Cross Pond Road and very shortly right on Scofield Road. The preserve is on the immediate left.
Geology:
The east side of the preserve is adjacent to a small lake that is just northwest of Cross Pond/Kitchawan Lake.
History:
In April 2004 The Nature Conservancy transferred the property to the Pound Ridge Land Trust.
