Peach Hill Town Park

Directions:

Peach Hill Park is located on Edgewood Drive off of Salt Point Turnpike in the Town of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, NY.  The park consists of two parcels the largest one +- 120 acres is composed of a former apple orchard.  It contains hiking trails and the highest point in the Town of Poughkeepsie, with some noteworthy views. 

The second parcel is about 40 acres and consists mainly of wetlands. This parcel is located at the intersection of Edgewood Drive and Salt Point Turnpike. There are no trails on this parcel.

History:

2001 (August 21) – Governor George E. Pataki announced funding of $321,000 in federal funding toward the acquisition and development of Peach Hill. The total cost for the acquisition and development of the park is $900,000. Scenic Hudson will provide $315,000, Dutchess County $252,000 and the Town of Poughkeepsie $12,000.

streams and wetlands tributary to the Fallkill Creek and Hudson River, ponds, steep slopes

hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing and picnicking

Trails:

There are 360-degree views from 482 foot high Peach Hill of the Hudson Valley, the Catskills, Shawangunk Ridge, Taconic Hills and the rest of the Highlands. Planned are linkages to the County's planned Maybrook rail-trail and to the Hudson River Greenway Trail.
