NINHAM MOUNTAIN: AROUND HEADQUARTERS
Putnam County, NY
Directions:
Taconic Parkway to Peekskill Hollow Road. Right turn on Route 301 and travel to mileage marker 11:86; just before crossing a bridge over the big lake, take a left turn on Gypsy Trail Road. Drive two miles and turn right into the parking lot.
Here is a nice lake with lots of aquatic plants, fields, and woods around the lake, but, boy, oh boy, has that Japanese barberry taken over the place. What a great illustration of what is going wrong with our natural areas.
