Directions:

Western parking area.  Take the Long Island Expressway to exit 70; drive south on Rt. 111 (Port Washington-West Hampton Road) about 1.2 miles and turn left onto Halsey Manor Road; drive 0.89 of a mile and park along the road just before it crosses the LIE. 


Geology:

The Harbor Hill moraine forms the northern fluke of Long Island.  The older Ronkonkoma moraine forms the southern fluke.  The Ronkonkoma Moraine tilts towards South Fork here.  This area has the highest concentration of glacial erratics in Long Island's Pine Barrens.

Wildwood Lake (parking in southeast section) which borders the David A. Sarnoff Pine   Barrens Preserve on its eastern border
