Directions:

From NYC take the Belt (Cross Island) parkway to exit 30. From there, go east about 27 miles on the Long Island Expressway to exit 53N. Go north about 3 miles on the Sunken Meadow Parkway to exit SM4, then go east (right). Turn right onto Main Street (Route 25A) and turn left onto St. Johnsland Road.  Right turn onto Landing Road.  Right turn onto Landing Avenue.  Look for park entrance.  

Geology:

Located in the Nissequogue River Wetlands.

History:

1994 -- the park is dedicated in memory of former Suffolk County Planning Director Arthur H. Kunz. A resident of Village of the Branch, Kunz began his career with the Nassau County planning department in 1958. He moved to Suffolk's planning department in 1966 and became department head in 1989, working to balance development and the environment throughout Suffolk County.

Popular with bird-watchers and hikers, the park includes part of the Greenbelt Trail.
