Jobsen Swamp Preserve

Directions:

One mile north of Fallsburg Creek.

I don't know if this is the area, but I accidentally found a Nature Conservancy piece of land on the right hand side of Primrose Hill Road, 1.5 miles west of the intersection of Primrose Hill Road and Route 9G.  There was no sign saying I couldn't walk on the land, so I did.  I wasn't there long.  Did notice that there were a lot of sedges in the small valleys with their vernal ponds and vernal streams. 

Geology:

Forms part of the headwaters of Fallsburg Creek, which feeds Vanderburgh Cove on the Hudson River.

History:

Mrs. Deb Dows donated the preserve in 1990.

2001  --Rob and Alysia Raylman, in memory of their grandparents Theresa Modolo and Arthur Baker, donated 10 acres of land to the preserve.

Habitats:

forested wetland, swamp, intermittent streams (part of the headwaters of Fallsburg Creek), deciduous woodland, pasture

Trails:

There are no officials trails here, but there are the remains of some old woods roads (that are slowly becoming overgrown).  The area is surrounded by houses.
