Directions:

From Sunrise Highway (NY 27) east take exit 64 north toward Riverhead; drive north on NY 24 for 2 miles; turn right on Red Creek Road; drive 1.1 miles (bearing right at the fork) to a small pull-off on the right by concrete pillars with a bar across them.

History:

1815  -- Hubbard family buys the land.  The family later builds part of the Black Duck Lodge.

1937  -- E. F. Hutton purchased the area for a hunting lodge.

Trail:

You can walk southeast and then southwest to Penny Pond, which is a large kettle hole pond. Here is a grove of Atlantic white cedars.
