Blue Lake

at intersection of Croton Dam Road and Mount Airy Road, Town of Cortlandt, Westchester County

269 acres

Situated directly adjacent to the New Croton Reservoir near Salt Hill.

6/01/04.  I, Patrick L. Cooney,  tried to locate an entrance for the place, but was not successful.

The property contains exceptional views of the New Croton Reservoir, and includes Blue Lake and a large, expansive wetland. Due to its location next to the New Croton Reservoir, seclusion, and natural beauty, this parcel was under tremendous development pressure.

History:

1997 – Governor Pataki pledged $7.5 million for land acquisitions in the Croton Watershed.

2002 – Governor Pataki says the State will buy the property. The State purchased the parcel for $2,924,000.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) holds a conservation easement restricting development on this property.
