"Insurance made December 29th, 1858, and reported to the Franklin Fire Insurance Company of Philadelphia May 14th, 1859.

"A two and a half story stone dwelling house with a stone kitchen partly two, and partly one story, and three story stone tower. On lot situate on the south east corner of Walnut Lane and Green Street, 22nd ward late Borough of Germantown.

"Dimensions marked on the plot. Walls pointed on the outside and lined on the inside. Floors hemlock joist 3x10 in.....All except the window frames in the tower are made of 2 in. white pine plank with folding sash, hung with butt hinges, at tower reveal frames sash all double hung, at all windows inside folding 1 1/8 in white pine panel shutters.....room doors 2 in thick, and all other doors, 1 1/2 in except outdoors at hall which are 3 in thick.....at the front of hall a circular top door frame of 2 in plank, 2 light transon, stone sill, folding doors, one panel in each door circular.....In hall a continued rail open stairs to half story, underpart of stairs at first story open, yellow pine steps 11 in. wide white pine risers, large octagon walnut post, 4 1/2 walnut hand rail, 2 1/2 in turned ash balusters, a register in floor. Parlor two windows front and back with sash opening down to floor.....a stone bay window at side.....at chimney a large, dark, fancy composition marbled (slate written above in different hand) mantle with fireboards and register, ceiling finished with plaster cornice and centre pieces, the ceiling of hall and each room the same. Dining room has two windows at the front.....a fancy brown circular composition (slate written above) marbled mantel with low down grate, a closet at each side of chimney. Library has two windows back.....a fancy composition (slate) green marbled mantel with low down grate, a closet at each side, with folding doors, a large light of glass and one panel in each door.

"The kitchen has a private stairway to 2nd story, closed.....2 dressers with 4-1 in. panel'd doors and two drawers each. Fire place with James Spears cooking range, iron sink closet under, pipes for hot and cold water, an out doorway.....

"Second story a hall through the centre with a room off front, 2 rooms over parlor and other part same as first story, a private entry to bathroom, a door from entry to each room.....The room at front of hall which includes the 2nd story of the tower.....The bathroom has a 2 light pediment window back and a two light window in end, a plank bathtub lined with copper, tin'd plated spigots, a water closet finished in the usual manner, a foot bath.....(registers, but no fireplaces mentioned on second floor)

"Half story divided same 2nd story, a door frame entry to each room, 2 large closets at front part of entry and also a door to tower and opened stairs to 3rd story of tower, closet under. The third story of tower has a triple window front.....a 4 light twin window at the side.....(gable and pediment windows on half story level)

"Gas pipes through the house.....7 bells in kitchen. A heater in cellar, the cellar has a mortar floor, walls plastered.....The bay window covered with tin eaves with wood cornice. The building has a double pitch cypress shingle roof, sheathing 1 in. hemlock boards. 1 large pediment at front part of roof and one back, also 2 pediment dormers on the back part of roof, a tower at front and also a gable.....large open brackets under the cornice and eaves.....The tower has a 4 pitch concave tin roof.....The two story kitchen has a double pitch roof with a small pediment at each side, and the one story part of kitchen a double pitch shingle roof.....The gables, pediments, all finished with a great quantity of ornamental woodwork, tin conductors and one lightnening rod to peak of tower. A portico at front of house, yellow pine floor, ceiled with 1 in. white pine obards, white pine columns, 7 in. square except the cluster columns at front of hall which are cased with 3 in. white pine plank about 13 in square, the main column, smaller ones 7 in. square, a hip'd tin roof.....fancy wood palisades and railing at top of eaves at that part of portico at front of hall. A piazza or portico at the back part of building same finish as front. The building new and well built. The butts of the shingles \_/ with corners sawed off."
