• folio 15: a photograph of the front doorway with the caption:

  "Doorway of no. 5933 Germantown Ave, corner of High St. Believed to have been the home of Dr Witt, property now owned by E.H. Butler."

• folio 12: a John Richards' zinc lithograph of the house (as viewed from across Germantown Avenue above High Street) with a page of manuscript text:
  "Littell House

  "I have been unable to learn when this house was built, but in 1812 Mrs. Ann Willing Morris came there to live & made it her home until her death in 1853. She was the daughter of Chas Willing, a merchant & a member of the well known Willing family. It had previously been owned by a man named (Stubbs?). Mrs. Morris was a lady of great mental energy & remarkable attainments. Her husband was Luke Morris. During the war of 1812 when a company of soldiers from Montgomery Co. stopped to rest in front of her house, she threw it open and they were supplied with all she had.

  "She was one of the originators of St. Luke's parish, her name appearing in its first subscription list in 1811. Her two daughters Elizabeth C. and Margaretta H. are well remembered. Elizabeth was an accomplished botanist & among her correspondents were Dr. Huttal and Prof Asa Gray. She was the first & for many years the only lady member of the Academy of Natural Sciences. Elizabeth died in 1865 & Margaretta in 1864. These two ladies were among the originators of St. Michaels Church & I believe gave the ground it was built on. John S. Littell & his wife, the youngest daughter of Mrs. Morris then came to reside here, & from 1869 to 1879 Chas Willing Littell occupied it.

  "It was in 1888 purchased by E.H. Butler, & sold to then by Mr. Butler in 1914, with his other property adjoining, to the city of Phila for a site for a High school."
