Reger House
22-24 East Haines Street

Image available at GHS.

Description:

A two-story frame house with a four register facade, shutters on the first floor windows only.

Background:

Dorothy and Joseph Reger played important roles in the early years of Germantown's Methodist community. They resided on Haines Street and were noted for their manufacture of apple vinegar, but they also had a little grocery store, a one and a half story building on Germantown Avenue below Haines Street (possibly 5859 Germantown Avenue).

After the house was demolished in the late nineteenth century, Henry Thomas built a pair of brick houses on the site.
