"6143. (Old number, 5137)
This house, and the one above it, stands upon 'lot No. 20, towards Bristol,' and was drawn in the name of Clause Rittenhouse. In 1714 it belonged to Paul Engle, and in 1766 it still belonged to him...Shoemaker says that in 1809, Francis Engle, son of Jacob Engle, owned the old house. It was purchased in 1752 by Benjamin Engle from his father Paul Engle, cordwainer. It is now occupied by Henry Thompson, dealer in antiques."

"6145. (Shoemaker, 5139)
This is an other Engle property. In 1809 it belonged to the estate of Susanna Engle. She was a daughter of Paul Engle and an aunt of Francis Engle. Henry Freas also owned this property in 1851."
