"6114 (Shoemaker, 5112)
This house is said to have belonged to Anthony Johnson in 1809, and to have been occupied at that time by Andrew Heath. Heath is said to have been a tory, and the person who guided the British into the town at the time they occupied it in 1777..Watson's Annals, Vol. 2, p. 51).

"In 1840, Susan Douglass, an old Quaker lady lived here and kept a boarding house. She rented out her farm, which was situated in the rear. Many noted people boarded with her...William W. Chew...

"In 1871 Mr. R.D. Dunning owned the place. Henry Peterson, the gifted author resided here in 1887. He is remembered as the author of the popular novel, 'Pemberton,' a story of the American Revolution. John J. Macfarlane now owns and occupies the place."
