"6104-06. (Shoemaker, 5102-04)
The old farm house that formerly stood upon this site greatly
resembled the Green Tree Inn, only it was much smaller. Michael
Keyser, a tanner, was living here in 1800. He was born in 1745,
and died in 1825...It was he who gave Christopher Sauer a coat
and hat at the time when the latter was held a prisoner in
Bastian Miller's barn after his arrest by Captain McClean's
company. He also took off his own shoes and gave them to Sauer,
who was in a pitiable state, having been almost stripped and
otherwise maltreated. His arrest took place May 2, 1778..."
