"5907 (Shoemaker, 5037)
"In 1809 this was the residence of Jacob Heft, a butcher. He saw the British soldiers, after the battle of Germantown, carry many muskets to the driveway of the Engle house, opposite, where they struck them over a large cubical quartz stone that stood there to protect the gate post...The stone was still standing in 1891, according to Shoemaker, but it has since been removed."
