"5907 (Shoemaker, 5037)
"In 1809 this was the residence of Jacob Heft, a butcher. He saw
the British soldiers, after the battle of Germantown, carry many
muskets to the driveway of the Engle house, opposite, where they
struck them over a large cubical quartz stone that stood there to
protect the gate post...The stone was still standing in 1891,
according to Shoemaker, but it has since been removed."
