1982 National Register of Historic Places Inventory for
Colonial Germantown Historic District:
"Joseph Jacob Shop, c. 1810; alterations c. 1900 and later,
two [sic] stories, stucco with wood trim, Georgian Revival style.

"From the rear, these old houses on the southwest look like a
picturesque scene in an ancient foreign town. From the front,
however, all is bustle and commerce. Half a dozen small shops
occupy the premises from 5918 to 5922 Germantown Avenue, which
were originally built by A. Keyser before the Revolutionary
War."
