As it looked in 1831.
Fourth St., Philadelphia, Pa.
This watercolor is in gray and white tones only. The view shows only the front facade of the Indian Queen Hotel. "Horatio Ware" is displayed over the entrance. This is a 3 1/2-storey building with a skylight installed on the roof. Three men, including an African American man with a wheelbarrow, and a woman with two children, one of whom has a dog on a leash, are on the sidewalk. Inside the hotel a man can be seen reading a newspaper.
