Northwest corner of 11th & Girard Streets, 1885

Eleventh & Girard Streets, Philadelphia, Pa.

On view is a row of four double townhouses, four and a half storeys high. The simple front plots are protected by low ornate wrought iron fencing. Identical wrought iron railings divide the front steps. To the right the No. 2 horsecar enters the scene; it travels on Tenth and Eleventh Streets. A closed carriage is at the opposite margin. It has just discharged a visitor to one of the townhouses. A gas lamp is at the corner curbside. The trees are bare. There are several pedestrians in this very elegant neighborhood.
