Northwest corner of Thirty-Third and Chestnut Streets, 1880

.

Philadelphia, Pa.

A high stone wall, topped by a wooden fence supports a large green plot with trees in leaf. A white clapboard residence with asymetrical roof is on this plot. The front of the house faces 33rd Street. To the right of the white house, at a lower level, also on 33rd Street is a red brick double townhouse. To the right of that is "H. Wendell Builder, Carpenter." At the left margin of the scene is an unidentified 2 1/2-storey wooden building, presumably a business. Horsecar tracks are visible on both streets. There is a corner streetlight.
