Grays Ferry Public Tavern, 1870

Grays Ferry, Philadelphia, Pa.

A three and one-half storey deserted white building in a state of disrepair is central to the scene. Its porches are collapsing. There are piles of old lumber in front of the building. The Schuylkill River is in the background, and train tracks are in the foreground. It is a summer scene with the trees in full leaf. There are no people depicted.

After a photograph by Robert Newell.
