Jefferson College, Reconstructed 1881

Tenth Street at Sansom Street, Philadelphia, Pa.

The very handsome, Greek-style portico of Jefferson College faces Tenth Street. There is a smaller, red brick building with a display window and awning supports to the viewer's right. Next right on the corner is the red brick building housing "H. Hochstrasser, Bell Hangh(?), Architechural Carver." A man in an apron stands in front of the store. There are eight male pedestrians and one female carries her shopping basket as she crosses the street on the stone crosswalk. The red brick sidewalks are edged with stone curbing. The solitary tree in the scene is in leaf.
