Silver Heels Hotel, 1830

Northwest corner of Fifth and Buttonwood Streets, Philadelphia, Pa.

This is a view of a meagerly developed area, an almost rural scene. There are five red brick residential buildings with several smaller wooded buildings interspersed. The corner to the left appears to be laid out as a park. There are numerous trees just beginning to show their leaves. The Silver Heels Hotel has a sign outside with a horse painted on it. There are many people in the scene, one of which is a man on horseback. A single gas lamp and large stone slabs defining the crosswalks are visible.
