During freezing weather, in addition to opening the main and air compressor drain valves, remove the plug at the base of the water pump and be sure that both cab heater valves are open.

CAUTION : TO PREVENT AIR COMPRESSOR DAMAGE DURING ENGINE SHUTDOWNS IN FREEZING WEATHER, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO DRAIN THE WATER FROM THE AIR COMPRESSOR. PROCEED AS DIRECTED BY RAILROAD RULES.
