Owned by Metro-North Commuter Railroad (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) - Scrapped.

All U34CHs were retired by 1995.

NJDOT 3351 was wrecked at Belleville, NJ on July 8, 1974. The locomotive was sent to the General Electric Apparatus Shop in Cleveland, Ohio for repair. Upon its return in 1976, it was repainted as Conrail Bicentennial Unit 1776. Upon NJDOT ownership, the unit was renumbered 4151, but kept the Bicentennial Scheme. In March 1978 the unit was repainted into an incorrect NJDOT livery and with number 4151. When the unit was repainted back into NJDOT livery, painters accidentally used the Erie Lackawanna hood unit masks, and thus the unit recieved a thinner silver stripe placed higher on the hood.

U34CHs were conveyed to NJDOT from Conrail on 12/2/76.

The following U34CHs were painted into NJT disco-stripe scheme : 4154, 4157, 4158, 4160, 4164, 4167, 4176, 4178. All others remained in a modified NJ DOT scheme.

Metro North 4183 was built as a U30C (C&NW 934) in 2/68, was sold to the MTA and rebuilt at GE/Pittsburgh in August to October 1978 to U34CH specs.
