NJ TRANSIT is undergoing a restoration project of one of the oldest in-service railroad tunnels in the world - the historic Bergen Tunnel. Built in 1877, the tunnel still provides access to and from Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken, New Jersey.

The north tube, which is where the restoration project is currently in progress, is one of two at the Bergen Tunnel – the gateway for all of NJ TRANSIT’s Hoboken bound riders. Carved into a swell of land known as Bergen Hill in the Heights section of Jersey City, the north and south tubes of the Bergen Tunnel each run about 4,400 feet through the southern reaches of the Palisades. On a daily basis, 25,000 people and 300 trains pass through the Bergen Tunnel to and from Hoboken.

Brick with Silver Nickel and Antique Finished Minted Coins with Brass Plaque $49.99
The Brick is 124 years old and is an original piece of the Bergen Tunnel. This item includes two beautifully designed minted coins mounted on the face of the brick - one coin displays an image of a NJ TRANSIT GP-40 diesel locomotive passing through the portal of the Bergen Tunnel, and the other rendering is the facade of Hoboken Terminal. These images are the front and back of the same coin, but we wanted you to be able to appreciate each rendering so we displayed both images by mounting two coins on the brick. The coins are made of a silver nickel mix with an antique finish. The brick comes with a mounted brass plaque that provides a short description of the Bergen Tunnel. Four vinyl adhesive feet are also mounted on the bottom of the brick to protect your furniture surface. The price of the brick is $49.99 plus shipping and handling, and tax if applicable. Only 500 of the silver nickel mix coins were minted!

Rock with Copper Coin $29.99
The Rock includes one minted coin displaying the NJ TRANSIT GP-40 diesel locomotive passing through the portal of the Bergen Tunnel. The coin is made of copper and pops extremely well mounted on Diabase. The price of the rock is $29.99 plus shipping and handling, and tax if applicable. Only 500 copper coins were minted!
