NJ TRANSIT proudly introduces the state-of-the-art Comet IV

Manufactured by Bombardier Transit Corporation, the leader in passenger rail car manufacturing in North America, the Comet IV incorporates numerous safety, mechanical and technological advances. The Comet IV is designed to provide passengers with the safest, most comfortable ride possible.

Modeled on the Comet I, II and III, mainstays of our rail fleet, the new Comet IV coach features the latest in operating technologies while incorporating ideas suggested by our passengers.

A total of 96 new Comet IVs will join NJ TRANSIT's rail fleet beginning in the fall of 1996.

Step into comfort and convenience
The Comet IV seats a maximum of 113 passengers, and features : a bright new interior color scheme, more comfortable seating, electrically powered sliding exit doors that open with the push of a button, and a computer-controlled climate control system. A special feature of the Comet IV is an on-board passenger communication system with LCD destination signs and automated voice annunciator.

The new Comet IV meets the guidelines set forth in the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, providing wheelchair-accessible seat locations and restrooms.

State-of-the-art technology for enhanced safety
The Comet IV's operating systems use microprocessor technology and are monitored by an on-board computer with state-of-the-art train control, braking and door systems. Anti-skid steps, thresholds and slip-resistant rubber flooring have been installed to reduce passenger injuries.
