'les Journées de la Libération - October 1918'

a number of sketches in color showing captured German war materiel on display

at the Place de la Concorde in Paris during the autumn of 1918

 

To celebrate the advance of the Allied armies and the subsequent liberation of French territory,

the French government organized 'les Journées de la Libération'. Here we see a crowd at

the Place de la Concorde watching airplanes overhead strew paper butterflies urging citizens to buy war bonds
