Upper Floor Business in a Belgian Brothel
Heinrich Zille was an illustrator who produced many drawings showing the sexual underside of proletarian life in Germany before the Great War. He was not loath to portray the promiscuous intimacy that came with living in overcrowded and unhealthy housing. These two drawings showing the business being conducted on the upper-floor of a Belgian brothel are quite sedate for his style.
