A Word of Caution

Drawing by Alfred Kobin

The following section on soldier's brothels during the Great War will deal with matters of a more or less adult nature. There will of course be no showing of indecent or explicit sexual illustrations, but at the same time it is difficult to discuss and describe such subject matter without being more or less implicit.

Now lewdity, like beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, so it is difficult to gauge what will or will not offend certain viewers. If you think you will find such matters distasteful or improper it might be best that you leave the following section and proceed to other sections of this website.

If on the other hand you feel that you can approach the subject of Great War morality and sexual mores in a mature and understanding nature then by all means proceed. You will not find any indecent illustrations, but on the other hand you will find photographs and drawings that were definetely not intended for publication in everyday newsmagazines and popular books.
