Wereld Revue 1934

20 Years After

20 years after the siege of Antwerp in 1914, a Belgian magazine called 'Wereld Revue' (World Review) published a special edition commemorating the dramatic events of the Great World War. On the cover page was an original unpublished drawing made in 1914 of the pontoon bridge over the river Scheldt. In the background Antwerp is burning while Belgian soldiers cross the bridge of boats on their way to Ghent, Ostend and ultimately the Yser front.

The inside pages of this special issue were adorned with a series of photographs of the siege, showing scenes of the bombardment and the occupation of Antwerp.
