This particular almanach, though published in French, was distributed or sold via the occupation newspaper 'Gazette des Ardennes' printed in Charleville-Mezieres in German occupied France. As with many German publications, this almanach tried to include as little war-related material as possible, preferring instead to charm its readers with idyllic illustrations of peaceful rural villages or landscapes. Interestingly it also contains quite an amount of original French material as well such as illustrations by renowned artists and photos of French soldiers. All the more to win the hearts and minds of the occupied population one suspects.
