Fry's Cocoa
This collection of advertisements is taken from the back page of the weekly newsmagazine 'The War of the Nations', a high class publication. It would appear that cocoa manufacturers thought their beverage the ideal drink for soldiers in the field : healthy and yet stimulating without any of the unhealthy negative connotations associated with drinks such as coffee or alcoholic beverages.
Tea, needless to say, hardly needed any promoting at all, at least for the British armed forces.
Fry's advertisements are quite tasteful and feature a diverse amount of artwork, sometimes submitted by soldiers serving in the field.
