the Burnham Portfolio
A collection of test patterns by Charlie Burnham, formerly of ABC New York.
Charlie spent over 20 years at ABC TV network headquarters in New York City. During that 20 year period, Charlie was involved in five Olympic telecasts, and was lucky enough to be nominated and win an Emmy for the 76 Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. In the early 60's, with the birth of ABC's "Wide World of Sports", Charlie was involved with editing remote sports broadcasts resulting in a great deal of traveling. In 1983 he transferred to WABC-TV, in the engineering department, spending more time at home base. His duties included Electronic News Gathering (ENG) as well as transmitter duty at the World Trade Center. Charlie has since retired and is involved with a local TV outlet as well as doing volunteer work.
Over the years Charlie has been collecting TP's from various sources. The plus to all of this, is his wife Penny. Penny a graphic artist, has been able to transform these poor quality images into pieces of art. All of the TP's were digitally created using the Mac Adobe Illustrator, resulting in this project, truly a labor of love.
On Saturday mornings you can usually find Charlie (K2GLP) on the 75 meter band @ 0800 on 3842khz. Let him know how you appreciate his efforts.
If anyone has drawings of old TP's, Charlie would appreciate a copy for possible future digital creation. If you have a scanner, send a jpeg to [email protected], and I will forward it to Charlie. If you don't have a scanner, send a note to [email protected], on how to contact via regular mail.
In addition to the TP's displayed here, TP's from the collection can also be found throughout the Test Pattern pages. I hope you enjoy your walk thru these memories as much as I do.
