KYW-FM began
operations in 1942 as W57PH
The station is currently* operating from studios in the KYW Building on
92.5 with 20 kw ERP.
The transmitter is located on the 18th floor of the Architects Building,
towering 576 feet above street level,
in downtown Philadelphia. Broadcast schedule, in 1947, is daily from 8 AM to 11:05
pm
KYW has occupied its own ultra-modern broadcasting center, a seven story
building in Center City,
since May 16,1938. The building known as the Westinghouse Radio
Center, and/or KYW Building
is located at 1619 Walnut Street. The KYW
facilities include six modern studios,
one featuring a 200 seat auditorium. Space has been provided for future televison
studios.
The building was built at a cost of 600,000 dollars. Frontage is 51 feet
with depth of 114 feet.
The KYW staff includes 119 persons as well as a full time orchestra compromising
16 pieces.
