1939 brochure for General Electric FM transmitter
Technical Information Radio Frequency Range: 30 - 44 mc Output Power: 1 kilowatt constant signal from 0 to 100 percent modulation Audio Frequency Response: +/- 1 db from 30 to 15,000 cycles, with pre-accentuation audio filter removed.Audio Circuits Two audio input channels are provided. The first - a speech amplifier with automatic level control - is for programs originating at the transmitter. The second - a single audio amplifier stage - for remote programming. Switching from one channel to the other is accomplished by a relay, operated from the control console. An audio pre-accentuation filter is incorporated in the transmitter, it's use is optional.This transmitter was in use by experimental station W1XTG of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the 1 kw transmitter was also used by commercial station W47A (WBCA) in Albany NY. W41MM, Mount Mitchell (WMIT) operated this unit with a 3 kw amplifier. General Electric's W57A / W85A (WGFM) in the Helderberg's used a 50 kw amplifier.
