The Geneva Convention dictated that POWs receive medical care. In fact, there were instances where the medical personnel of on side or the other, due to the fortunes of war (i.e. being captured), worked along side their erstwhile enemies treating casualties. Note the tag on the wounded man. The wounded, once first aid was applied, were tagged prior to being taken back to the aid station.
